The 7 Best Car Subwoofer under 300 reviews in 2022

Looking for the best car subwoofer under $300 is a fun journey that we are about to take together. This is something that is a tad trickier than you would think. Not because it is hard to find a decent subwoofer for your car at this price range, but because there are so many of them! Well, today I have looked at a few that will rock your car, but not rock your bank balance.

Why Do I Need A Subwoofer For My Car?

To be fair, I would bet that most people just stick with the stock setup that their car comes with and they are cool with that. Some of us though want a bit more “kick” and that is where a decent subwoofer comes into play. If you love your music and want to listen to it in a better more “powerful” quality than you get with the stock setup of your car, a decent subwoofer can really make a world of difference.

The 7 Best Car Subwoofer Under $300 Reviews

I have managed to personally test out a few of these car subwoofers and wanted to share my opinion on them. I have also done a little research (complete with a lab coat and clipboard) and picked a few other car subwoofers that I feel are worth taking a closer look at.

  1. Skar Audio Single 10″ 1200W Loaded SDR Series Vented Subwoofer Enclosure
  2. Rockville RW10CA 10″ 800 Watt Slim Low Profile Active Powered Car Subwoofer Sub
  3. Pioneer TS-WX1010A 10” Sealed enclosure active subwoofer with built-in amplifier
  4. Alpine Electronics PWE-S8 Restyle Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer
  5. Dual 12″ Kicker CompC Sub Package with Kicker 46CXA400.1 Amp & Vented Enclosure
  6. Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X10 Prime R2S Single 10-Inch Shallow Loaded Enclosure
  7. Rockville RWS12CA Slim 1200 Watt 12″ Powered Car Subwoofer Enclosure + Wire Kit

1. Skar Audio Single 10″ 1200W Loaded SDR Series Vented Subwoofer Enclosure

Pros:

  • I love how high quality it feels
  • The price is fantastic
  • Bass is really powerful
  • Very easy to install

Cons:

  • It may run a little hot with prolonged use
  • Might be a bit large for some vehicles

At ar9und 170 bucks I feel that the Skar Audio Single 10″ 1200W Loaded SDR Series Vented Subwoofer Enclosure is well worth consideration for the best car subwoofer under $300. This is a very popular subwoofer and the version I got to check out was the 10-inch version, but this one here is available in many different sizes and it can also come with an amplifier if you want to kick your sound and bass up even more.

This is not the smallest subwoofer by any stretch of the imagination, but man it feels like some real high-quality tech when you are installing it. The installation was nice and easy, but what you really care about is the sound. The bass in this thing is really, really intense. So much so that I had to actually turn it down a tad as I knew my neighbors would get mad with me messing around with this in the driveway. It can run a little hot so I do worry if I was out for a long drive with this thing cranked all the way up that it would shut down on me, but I cannot say for sure what would happen. What I can say for sure is that if you want some kickass bass, you cannot go wrong with this. I am a rocker first and foremost and I can tell you that Appetite for Destruction sounded epic with this thing.

What Other People Are Saying

The best place to look for reviews of this thing is by far Amazon as there is a ton of great reviews on there for not just this version I have looked at, but the other configurations too. One review had this to say The only thing is it is huge the box takes up most of the back seat in my crew cab pickup but the sound quality is worth it.” Which is something I do fully agree with.

The Skar Audio Single 10″ 1200W Loaded SDR Series Vented Subwoofer Enclosure is a great way for us to look for our sub 300 buck’s car subwoofer. The heat thing may be an issue along with the size, but man I love this thing! If you want some kick-ass bass and want to be well under 300 bucks, check this one out.

2. Rockville RW10CA 10″ 800 Watt Slim Low Profile Active Powered Car Subwoofer Sub

Pros:

  • I love the slim design of this
  • Very easy to install under your seat
  • It is only a little over 100 bucks
  • Bass is nice and clear

Cons:

  • Not the most powerful bass
  • It is not as “solid” as some of the other subwoofers I have seen

Ok so at 800 watts this Rockville RW10CA 10″ 800-Watt Slim Low Profile Active Powered Car Subwoofer Sub is not the most powerful sub on our list, but at a little over 100 bucks. This is a fantastic value for money. The 10-inch version is the one I have looked at, but there is a smaller and cheaper, 8 inch version if that is more suitable for your vehicle. It is designed to go under your car seat and that is why it is slimmer in its design.

I love the compact nature of this thing, plus the blue trim makes it easy on the eyes. It was easy enough to install and it made me think about getting two of these and having one either side of my car! You can control the power of it, but I had it cranked up and it was great, but not too overpowering where the neighbors would start pitching a fit! The bass is not super loud, but it is nice, clear and certainly has some kick. I put this thing through its paces with some Nirvana and it really was awesome.

What Other People Are Saying

I would suggest you check out the official Rockville YouTube Channel where you can see them put this thing through the wringer. Also, I would suggest you check out the comments section as a lot of people have some really nice things to say about this.

At this price point, I was not sure what to expect from the Rockville RW10CA 10″ 800-Watt Slim Low Profile Active Powered Car Subwoofer Sub, however, this thing is pretty awesome. If you want a subwoofer that is going under your seat, you really cannot go wrong with this. It may not be the most powerful, but the bass is clear and it is very, very affordable.

3. Pioneer TS-WX1010A 10” Sealed enclosure active subwoofer with built-in amplifier

Pros:

  • I love the build quality of this thing
  • At over 200 bucks I still feel it is good value for money
  • The bass is great!
  • Easy enough to install

Cons:

  • Some might not like how big it is
  • The remote control is a bit small for my liking

The Pioneer TS-WX1010A 10” Sealed enclosure active subwoofer with built-in amplifier is over the 200 bucks mark, but it does have a built in amplifier as well as that Pioneer quality. I was very impressed with the overall build quality of this thing and would have to say of all the subwoofers on this list that this one has the most solid feel to it.

This has to go in the trunk, not under the seat as it is quite large so please keep that in mind. At 10-inches this thing has some real kick to it and I was very impressed with the quality of the bass as well as the power of it. It does let you easily control the power of the bass so it can be toned down if you are rocking out in a more residential area or if your wife is like mine and goes mad when you crank it up too much! It is easy enough to install and at the end of the day, you get that peace of mind knowing it is a name brand.

What Other People Are Saying

As I write this Amazon has over 100 reviews for this thing and it is standing at 4 and a half stars! One review says this, “The instructions are are clear and I honestly had this from box to working in my vehicle in about an hour on a nice afternoon since I already had the wiring and some basic tools handy. And I’ve never installed nor used a subwoofer before”. Which lets you know how easy to install it is.

While we may be closer to our 300 bucks limit than you may like. There is no denying that this thing is great. It is high quality bass that has some kick and the actual device is very well made and has that Pioneer quality you would expect. I would recommend this one if you want something with a name you recognize.

4. Alpine Electronics PWE-S8 Restyle Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer

Pros:

  • The design is great
  • It is very well made and robust in its design
  • Bass is clear and has some nice kick to it
  • It is a very affordable car subwoofer

Cons:

  • Not the most powerful subwoofer
  • Not sure about the durability of that control knob

Let me start by saying that the Alpine Electronics PWE-S8 Restyle Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer is not the most powerful car subwoofer under $300 on this list, but that does not mean it is bad. I think this is a great pick for those who want a bit more bass in their car, but do not care about being able to rock the neighborhood when they are driving through it. At 189 bucks the price is right and it feels very, very solid so I have a feeling this is one durable unit.

The sound quality this produces is fine. I put it right under my drivers’ seat and was impressed with the quality. A little Iron Maiden was the best way to try this and It sounded good. I do think that some people might want to get two of these and have one on each side as the sound on occasion did feel a little uneven if that makes sense. The included knob that lets you change the level from your seat is a bit on the “cheap” side, but it gets the job done.

What Other People Are Saying

If you want to get an idea of the build quality of this thing check out That Tech Guy who has a YouTube video unboxing. Here you can really see just how compact and well made this thing. Also on Amazon, there are over 100 positive reviews for this thing which is always great to see.

For those that want car rocking, neighbor complaining bass I do not think that this is the car subwoofer for you. However, I am very impressed with this and think for those that just want a little bit more oomph with their sound will be very happy with this. It is easy to install; the build quality feels great and I think that the under 200 bucks asking price is more than fair.

5. Dual 12″ Kicker CompC Sub Package with Kicker 46CXA400.1 Amp & Vented Enclosure

Pros:

  • It looks pretty badass
  • Dual setup for extra rocking!
  • Many positive reviews on Amazon
  • Comes with everything required to get rocking out of the box

Cons:

  • It is larger than you would think
  • Many say that the amp is a little underpowered

Ok so the Dual 12″ Kicker CompC Sub Package with Kicker 46CXA400.1 Amp & Vented Enclosure we are looking at here may not have the brand recognition that you may want, but I do feel that this is well worth taking a look at. Full disclosure here, I have not personally tested this one, but as this is a dual 12-inch sub I thought it was well worth taking a look at. Especially considering that it is coming in under our 300 bucks price point at 275 bucks.

As well as the awesome dual 12-inch subwoofer, you are getting an amplifier and everything that you need to get this thing hooked up. It does look a rather large unit so hooking it up in the trunk is what you will have to do. From what I have read it seems like a very solid unit and while the amp maybe a little underpowered. I do feel that for those looking for a dual setup, this is one of the best car subwoofers under $300 that you really do need to consider.

What Other People Are Saying

I actually did quite a bit of research on this one and was surprised at how little information there was out there floating around about it. I would say that the best place to look to see what actual customers are saying is Amazon where it has an 86 percent five-star review rating. One review caught my eye which said, “For the money, it’s hard to argue. Kids’ first system. He’s happy it’s loud. Not top of the line by any means but a great value and easy to install.”

From what I can tell this seems like a decent setup. I get that the amp has a reputation for being underpowered, but if you are looking for something cool and maybe even your first subwoofer for your first system, I think this would be ideal. It looks far better made than you would think and at the end of the day it is a few bucks under our 300 bucks price limit which is always nice to see.

6. Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X10 Prime R2S Single 10-Inch Shallow Loaded Enclosure

Pros:

  • Really smart looking design
  • Comes with all you need to set it up
  • Lots of glowing reviews about the bass
  • Lots of glowing reviews in general!
  • Costs just over 100 bucks

Cons:

  • Might not be as powerful as some would like
  • You might be better going for the 12-inch version

If there is one subwoofer on this list that I wished I could have tried out personally it is this one here. The Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X10 Prime R2S Single 10-Inch Shallow Loaded Enclosure is only going to set you back around 120 – 130 bucks which is an absolute steal! I like the wedge design and think that it is something that is going to make this a subwoofer that is ideal for those who want a bit more punch in their sound, but they do not need the car shaking, neighbors complaining and to be a few hundred bucks out of pocket!

At 10-inch and 200 watts, I think the bass that this gives is going to be pretty solid. When you do a little digging online, many people are very happy with this and it really does make me want to get one of these to test out. I am sure that with just the right amount of tinkering on the dial from you that you will get a level of bass that fits your musical taste just perfectly. The small compact nature of this means that it will fit in most cars and I am sure many people who have this will have it installed under their seat or just behind it.

What Other People Are Saying

“These subwoofers sound as good as they look” is one of the standout things from this YouTube Video Review that really caught my attention. While they review this version and the larger one, it gives you a good sense of what this subwoofer is like. I really do feel that this one here is one of the most underrated when it comes to finding the best car subwoofer under $300. Even on Amazon, you have a ton of glowing reviews for this thing.

Man, the more research that I do on this The Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X10 Prime R2S Single 10-Inch Shallow Loaded Enclosure the more I want one to test out for myself. It sounds like it has some nice power to the bass and at just a little over 100 bucks, this is offering fantastic value for money. Be sure to take a closer look at this one if you want great value for money.

7. Rockville RWS12CA Slim 1200 Watt 12″ Powered Car Subwoofer Enclosure + Wire Kit

Pros:

  • It looks super cool
  • The design is something I really like
  • Low price, but high bass
  • The bass is said to be really rocking
  • No problems setting this up

Cons:

  • Some people have said that it is too powerful!
  • While cool, the remote maybe a little chunky for some

As I really liked the Rockville subwoofer I checked out I decided to put another one on here. This Rockville RWS12CA Slim 1200 Watt 12″ Powered Car Subwoofer Enclosure + Wire Kit actually has a really solid reputation and at around 130 bucks it is well and truly under our $300 price limit. Unless you want to show off the inside of your car the design of the subwoofer should not matter, but there is no denying that this one here is pretty badass.

It is 1200 watt so I feel the power should be more than good enough. I can tell you first hand that Rockville makes solid products and I see no reason why this one would be different. The slim design of this makes it ideal if you want something that does not take up a ton of space or can even be stored under the seat for real rocking action. The remote it comes with looks cool and will not stick out like a sore thumb which is something I like.

What Other People Are Saying

The best place to go to get the low down on this has to be Amazon. Over 500 people have rated this thing and it is currently sitting at 89 percent when it comes to 4 and 5-star ratings! Many of the reviews talk about hard-hitting and big bass so if that is what you are looking for this is one subwoofer that has you covered.

I really would like to get my hands on this thing. For the price it sounds like it packs a real punch when it comes to the bass with many of the reviews, I have read having people talking about having to turn it down! That is what I want to hear, I also have not really read much in the way of complaints about the build quality which is great considering its smaller stature and budget priced price point.

What Is The Best Car Subwoofer Under $300?

I legit do not think that there is actually a bad subwoofer on this list. However, I have to pick one as my favorite and best car subwoofer under $300. The one I am going for is the Pioneer TS-WX1010A 10” Sealed enclosure active subwoofer with built-in amplifier. It has that quality you would expect from Pioneer through and through. It is one of the larger units on this list so if you want something a bit more compact, I suggest you look at something like the two from Rockville.
