Bose Companion 2 Series III vs Logitech Z623 which is a better choice?

Today we are looking at which is a better speaker; the Bose Companion 2 Series III or the Logitech Z623? The quality of your speakers is just as crucial as the quality of your monitor or GPU when you’re setting up your PC as a home entertainment system. Many people overlook the speakers when building their computer, but they can improve the viewing experience as much as they jump from 480p to 1080p. A speaker is also one of the longest-lasting pieces of PC hardware, often lasting a decade with no need for repair or replacement.

Knowing what you want and looking for in the speakers you select is the key to choosing the right ones. More expensive speakers don’t always perform better. Pay attention to the features you’re getting. Many inexpensive speakers sound great, but they break down after an expired warranty.

Here’s a quick review of both products if you’re in a hurry. Bose Companion 2 Series III is affordable, perfect in size, and is easy to fit into different home theater and PC setups. On the other hand, Logitech Z623 is equipped with the latest technology and surround sound, transporting sound in every corner. Also, a separate subwoofer is included in the package.

With the Logitech Z623 and Bose Companion 2 Series III, most pro gamers enjoy their gaming sound setup instead of soundbars or noise-canceling headphones. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly wireless or wired Bluetooth-enabled gaming speaker system, Bose Companion 2 Series III and Logitech Z623 are both well worth the investment.

However, which one is better among these two? Let’s have a clear picture and uncover the beast between Bose Companion 2 series III and Logitech Z623.

Build & Speaker Design

Wattage doesn’t necessarily equate to volume or sound. Several companies, like Bose, have demonstrated that engineering and construction decisions can significantly impact the volume and quality of sound produced. The materials directly affect the production of sound, so their quality matters. Good design is more than just aesthetics.

Bose Companion 2 Series III:

With the Bose Companion 2 Series III, you can use any small audio device—including your computer or laptop—as a portable speaker system. Unfortunately, there is no subwoofer in the system. It has volume control and a headphone jack on its right side. You can easily access these features. You can also connect an additional device through the auxiliary input.

Logitech Z623:

Logitech’s Z623 includes a subwoofer along with two speakers. Though the system looks like a normal speaker setup, it can provide surround sound because of its powerful technology. Logitech’s Z623 features inputs for various music, movie, and gaming devices. You can adjust the volume and bass on the front of a speaker.

The Verdict:

In terms of build and design, there is a massive difference between these two options. One is a regular speaker that you can connect with your computer. The other one, Logitech Z623, comes with a subwoofer that enhances the gaming and music listening experience as it provides surround sound. So, Logitech Z623 wins this point.

Sound

Bose Companion 2 Series III:

No matter the volume level, Bose Companion 2 Series III provides clear audio performance. Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers also feature True Space processing, which will cause the sound to sound beyond what is actually being produced by the speakers.

Thanks to the speaker’s ported cabinet design, the Companion 2 Series III speakers provide clear sound and deep bass. Its vocal clarity is always better than other speakers without subwoofers. Because it lacks a subwoofer, the bass is a little weak. Its power will still blow your mind if you sit face-to-face with it.

Logitech Z623:

Logitech Z623 speakers provide 400 Watts of peak power. The speakers have been THX certified for exceptional sound quality. The speakers produce an audio signal that is crisp, powerful, and crystal clear.

The bass response is pretty good, and when you turn the computer up to maximum, you can still hear the highs pretty well, and the lows are quite deep. The woofer has a broad range; it does not go very low, which makes sense given its size.

The Verdict:

Since there is a difference between their sound features, comparing these two seems like an unfair deal. However, Logitech Z623 offers a more clear, crisp, fuller sound. Though Bose Companion 2 series III is also a great speaker, Logitech surpasses the former one with its exceptional sound quality.

Size & Weight

Bose Companion 2 Series III:

Bose Companion 2 series III speakers measure 7.5 X 3.1 X 5.9 inches. It weighs 1.8 pounds on the left and 2.3 pounds on the right.

Logitech Z623:

There is a subwoofer inside the Logitech Z623, which is 11 inches by 12 inches by 10 inches and weighs 15.4 pounds. Each speaker measures 7.7 inches by 4.6 inches by 5 inches and weighs 2.2 pounds.

The Verdict:

Bose Companion 2 series III has a small and lightweight body which makes it easier to manage. On the other hand, the Logitech Z623 is more complicated to set up given its hardwired cables and size.

Technical Specification

Bose Companion 2 Series III:

The speakers come with instructions and warranty information, as well as an audio cable so we can connect them to our computers or smartphones. The way Bose packaged these speakers is excellent! The speakers are suspended in plastic, so they will not get dented or damaged when they are shipped. Our first view is of a bit of power supply with a black exterior. The two speakers are behind it.

Having the ability to connect two devices simultaneously is one of the best things about this system, and when I plug both of them in, neither gets muted.

Logitech Z623:

It has a port on the side and a total power of 400 watts and an RMS power of 200 watts, which can provide 200 watts of power in any given situation. If you average out the power output, it will give you about 200 watts at a time. The subwoofer is also controlled separately, which is a nice feature for me. When you turn down the bass completely, the subwoofer will not work. For its size, the unit actually has pretty good reverberation when you turn the bass up. It isn’t a large system at all, and it does not occupy much space at all.

There is a thicker cable coming out of the right speaker’s back because this plugs into something like a VGA cable input. It has controls to adjust the volume, the bass, power, the central unit, and audio signal to that speaker, hence the thicker cable. You’ll also find a mini audio input jack as well as a headphone jack on the cable down there from the right speaker.

The Verdict:

Logitech Z623 stereo system is really unique in that it lets you play audio simultaneously from all its inputs, which is actually really cool. On the other hand, Bose Companion 2 series III can connect two devices at once without muting any one of them.

Price

Bose Companion 2 Series III: They have an affordable price and cost around $119.

Logitech Z623: The Logitech Z623 is a great Speaker for its $209 asking price.

The Verdict: Bose Companion 2 series III is pocket-friendly, and Logitech Z623 is expensive compared to the former one.

The Verdict

Even though the Logitech Z623 retails for a higher price than the Bose Companion 2 Series III, I believe it is a better value for the price. There is a subwoofer that sounds great with it, and there isn’t one with the Bose Companion 2 Series III.
